Recently I come across this term, Phra Phrom, and Phra Phrom amulet, a few times.
I come across them when searching for Buddhism amulets.
There are a few collectors who keep on talking about Phra Phrom. They definitely know what they are talking about, but I do not know anything, and I dare not show my ignorance.
What is Phra Phrom?
The common term for Phra Phrom outside of Thailand is Four Faced Buddha.
In fact, there are many temples in Asia worshipping the Four Faced Buddha.
When I do some research to find out the original of this Buddha, I come to know that it is in fact a representation of Hindu God, Brahma.
The worship of Phra Phrom requires believers to offer jasmine flowers, and jasmine flower garlands. They offer incense as well.
Some homes in Asia even have altars dedicated to Phra Phrom.
It is always in the courtyard of the house, and rarely inside the house. Many believers believe that the four faces of Phra Phrom denote different blessings.
Many Asians like to wear Phra Phrom amulets to ward off evils, and gather good luck.
Some of them visit the Phra Phrom temples in Thailand, and get the amulet from the shops inside the temples.
The monks made those amulets, and pray for blessings.
There are many stories about Phra Phrom appearing in the dreams repeatedly. It seems to invite people to learn more about it, and probably is a form of invitation to be friends.
Many people have such experience, and they get an amulet, before getting a larger statue for worship at home.
What is the benefit of worshipping Phra Phrom?
The blessings come in different forms. In a case of a person dreaming of the Four Faced Buddha, he will experience peace and wealth after he accepts Phra Phrom into his life.
Many businesspersons experience upturn in their businesses, and they have peaceful and happy family too.
